Outriggers and or a jackstand are needed for any application. A removable jackstand
is sufficient on the smaller cranes but you will need a set of
outriggers on the larger units for the Vehicle to pass the
required stability test as dictated by J765 which is part of 1910.180

Benefits of
Outriggers and or Jackstands
- Stabilize the Vehicle while lifting a load.
- Prevents overload of vehicles suspension when picking up a load.
- Makes rotation easer on manually rotated cranes, you do not have
to push load uphill.
- Reduces the torque required to rotate the load thus increasing the
life of the rotation system.
- To Meet the requirements of SAE J765 all cranes over 2000 lbs are
required to have stability test performed after installation.
