Outriggers or Jackstands are required to set up the truck as level as possible when the crane is in use. The crane should be level to reduce the torque on the rotation mechanism on power rotation cranes. Keeping the crane level requires less effort to rotate manual rotation cranes. OSHA regulations require that stability tests be performed on the completed truck assembly. Outriggers will improve performance during this test.
